Medifam is published since 1991 and accepts those papers directly related to family medicine and comprehensive health care. It was initially a bimonthly journal but as of September, 2000, it began to be published every month, with 10 numbers yearly.

The abridged title es Medifam that should appear in references, footnotes and bibliographies.  

The journal stopped publishing from volume 13, number 4, 2003.
