About the aesthetic feeling of life and its utility

Se plantea una reflexión desde el darwinismo y el psicoanálisis sobre el sentido del sentimiento estético, así como de algunas características del mismo,concluyendo que el sentimiento estético es un tónico de la voluntad imprescindible para vivir con el malestar inherenteal hecho de saber que somos seres para la muerte.

The author expounds a reflection of the darwinism and psychoanalysis about the sense of the aesthetic feeling, as well as about some of its characteristics. He concludes that the aesthetic feeling is aessential tonic of the will to live with the inherent uneasiness about the fact that we know about our mortality likethe human beings that we are.

Reflections about a therapeutic group with schizophrenic patients

El artículo describe el uso en la esquizofrenia de la psicoterapia de grupo, coordinada con técnica analítico - operativa. Se concluye que es una herramienta de gran utilidad en esta enfermedad, y que su combinación con psicofármacos y sesiones grupales conjuntas de pacientes y familiares obtiene resultados favorables para su evolución.

This article describes the use in schizophrenia of group psychotherapy, ombined with analytical-operative technique. We are drown to the conclusion that it is a very useful tool for this disease and its combination with drug therapy and families and patients group sessions obtains favorable effects for their evolution.

Bereavement impact in psychotic patients

Se observa cómo el duelo incide en la patología psicótica y cómo esta modula la elaboración de la pérdida. Se realizó un estudio con todos los pacientes psicóticos del programa de seguimiento de un Servicio de Salud Mental con 207 sujetos y se seleccionaron los que habían presentado un duelo significativo previo a la consulta (10%). En un 60% de estos, el duelo está vinculado al desencadenante y en un 38% se manifestaba a través de los síntomas psicóticos. El efecto desencadenante es más frecuente significativamente en los cuadros psicóticos no esquizofrénicos. En los pacientes que tienen una pérdida significativa a lo largo del tratamiento (11%) se encuentra una recaída grave o reingreso en un 35% de los casos. Si bien su pronóstico posterior no se torna desfavorable más que en un 26% de los casos, estando la evolución condicionada por el apoyo del medio. Se confirma la trascendencia de factores como la muerte imprevista, convivencia con el fallecido o vínculos problemáticos en los psicóticos al igual que se había confirmado antes en estudios más generales. La circunstancia del duelo es importante que sea tenida en cuenta en el tratamiento de los pacientes psicóticos.

In this work we are trying to describe how does bereavement influence in psychotic pathology and modulate the loss working-out. A study was carried out with every psychotic patient of the monitoring program of a Mental Health Service with 207 subjects and we selected the patients who presented a prior significant bereavement (10%). In a 60% of these, the bereavement is linked to the trigger and in a 38% was declared through the psychotic symptoms. The trigger factor is more frequent significantly in sets of no schizophrenic psychotic symptoms. In that patients with significant loss along the treatment (11%) it is found a serious relapse in a 35% of the cases. Through its subsequent forecast himself does not become unfavorable more than in a 26% of the cases, being the evolution conditioned by the support of the environment It is confirmed he significance of factors as the unexpected death, contact with the passed away or problematic bonds in the psychotic, just like it had been confirmed before in more general studies. The circumstance of the bereavement is important to be considerate in the psychotic patients treatment.

Functional issues in functional - analitic psychotherapy

Se considera una nueva psicoterapia de orientación conductual: la Psicoterapia Analítico Funcional. Se describen brevemente sus fundamentos teóricos, metodológicos y aplicados. Se discuten sus aspectos funcionales desde un punto de vista contextual.

A new psychotherapeutic approach from a behavioral view is considered: the Functional Analytic Psychotherapy. Its theoretical, methodological and applied foundations are described. Its functional characteristics are discussed from a contextual point of view.

The social origins of consciousness: a theoretical framework for Mental Health

Argumentamos que la conciencia tiene un carácter esencialmente social. Revisamos las aportaciones de cuatro enfoques sociopsicológicos -la psicología - vygotskiana, el Interaccionismo Simbólico, el Construccionismo Social y el modelo socioecológico de Bronfenbrenner - y sus implicaciones en Salud Mental. Se plantea la necesidad de que el profesional de la Salud Mental tome conciencia de su importante rol social.

We expose that consciousness is asocial event in essence. Contributions from four sociopsychological frameworks -vygotskian psychology, Symbolic Interactionism, Social Constructionism and Bronfenbrenner's socioecological model- are revised and its relevance for Mental Health is suggested. We claim for people working in Mental Health being aware of their important social role.

Neurogenesis and the modular structure of consciousness

Este artículo pretende dar cuenta de la génesis neurológica de nuestra subjetividad, esto es, del camino que recorremos hasta llegar a percibirnos a nosotros mismos como sujetos de nuestros actos y de nuestros pensamientos, construyendo una idea cada vez más extensa y precisa de nosotros mismos. Consideramos que gran parte de los trabajos y de las teorías actuales sobre la conciencia chocan con problemas irresolubles porque carecen de esta perspectiva genética, olvidando que cuando nacemos no tenemos una subjetividad o conciencia. El artículo pretende así mostrar que es posible llegar a sensaciones subjetivas -sólo perceptibles y descriptibles en primera persona- a partir de fenómenos neurológicos impersonales, los cuales producen posteriormente el sujeto mental. A lo largo del artículo tenemos en cuenta tanto los procesos psicológicos que están en la base de la conciencia como los sistemas neurológicos implicados en ellos. La conciencia aparece así como resultado de la coordinación unitaria de diversos sistemas o módulos neurológicos.

This paper aims to explain the neurological genesis of our subjectivity, the path we follow until we can see ourselves as subjects of our acts and thoughts, forming an increasingly more accurate and extensive idea of ourselves. We consider that a lot of current work and theories on consciousness come up against insoluble problems because they do not have this genetic view, forgetting that when we are born we do not have any subjectivity or consciousness. This article therefore intends to show that it is possible to reach subjective feelings -perceptible and describable only in the first person- from neurological impersonal phenomena which later produce the mental subject. Throughout the article we deal with both psychological processes which form the basis of consciousness as well as the neuronal systems involved in them. In the end consciousness appears as a result of the unitary coordination of different neurological systems or modules.

Bodyseen & bodyfelt: from the anatomy to the psychiatric clinical

Se pretende una reflexión histórica sobre la concepción del cuerpo humano en relación con la clínica psiquiátrica. Se abordan algunos aspectos especialmente significativos de la "somatización" de lo mental por parte del alienismo decimonónico y se apunta una interpretación antropológica del cuerpo en la encrucijada de la salud mental, basada en el abordaje del mismo, bien como un objeto científicamente observable (cuerpo visto), bien como una realidad subjetiva (cuerpo sentido).

The goal of this paper is to made an historical analysis about the conception of the human body in relationship with clinical psychiatry. We focused our study on some specially significant aspects of the decimononic alienism, as the "somatization" of the mind. We advance an anthropological interpretation of the comprehension of the body in the crossroads of the mental health, based on thinking the body as scientifically observable object (seen body) or as subjective reality (felt body)

Integración laboral en salud mental en el área de Londres (I): modelos, ejemplos y valores

Este trabajo, fruto de una estanciade cuatro meses en Londres y alrededores, pretende exponer cuál es la diversidad de modelos dirigidos a la integración laboral para personas con enfermedad mental crónica en este área (clasificación; ejemplos de proyectos representativos de cada modelo; valores que orientan el futuro del trabajo en este campo en Reino Unido).

As result of a four month stay in London and surroundings, this workpretends to review the divertity of vocational rehabilitation models for people with severe mental illness existingin United Kingdom (classification; examples of prototypes for each model; values for the future projects in UK).
