Abstract

DIEZ PATRICIO, Antonio. Reason, belief, delusion. Rev. Asoc. Esp. Neuropsiq. [online]. 2021, vol.41, n.139, pp.117-136.  Epub Oct 04, 2021. ISSN 2340-2733.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/s0211-57352021000100007.

The conceptual relationships between delusions and beliefs are studied. For theoretical reasons, the present work focuses solely on paranoiac delusions, which are composed of delusional interpretations. With regard to beliefs, their epistemological and psychological aspects are distinguished; paranoiac delusions bear a “family resemblance” to the epistemological aspect. Lastly, the following aspects of paranoiac delusions are studied: systematization, certainty, verisimilitude, egocentrism, and irrationality.

Keywords : delusion; belief; abductive inference; systematization; certainty; verisimilitude; egocentrism; irrationality.
