COLLADO GARCIA, José Carlos; ALGARRA LOPEZ, Stella  and  AMEZCUA, Manuel. Nursing knowledge in the face of the covid-19 pandemic: manifestations of an applied discipline in health. Index Enferm [online]. 2020, vol.29, n.4, pp.268-273.  Epub Nov 01, 2021. ISSN 1699-5988.

Objective:

Method:

Bibliometric study on the articles published by nurses about the coronavirus pandemic during the first three months since the declaration of the international health alert.

Main results:

288 documents were retrieved, 90 % published in Nursing journals. Production increases in the fourth week of March and April, concentrating more than half in three countries (United States, United Kingdom and China). Three-quarters were published in English. They were mostly opinion articles (68.75 %). Psychosocial problems of professionals and organization of services are mainly addressed.

Main conclusion:

Nursing has followed the expected pattern in an applied discipline in terms of the production of knowledge about the Covid-19 pandemic, simultaneously using the channels of experience and science, with a limited research production that grows exponentially as the epidemic advances.
