Abstract
DIAZ DE DURANA-SANTA COLOMA, Susana; AYLLON-GARRIDO, Nuria and LATORRE-GARCIA, Kepa. Evolution of pressure ulcers incidence after the improvement of a prevention protocol in intensive care. Gerokomos [online]. 2008, vol.19, n.4, pp.55-60. ISSN 1134-928X.
Objective: To know the pressure ulcers (PU) incidence in an intensive care Unit (ICU), before and after the improvement of a prevention protocol. Method: Descriptive and comparative study wich includes the totality of patients who developed PU post-admission in two study periods: 2000-2001 and 2002-2005. Conclusions: The UP incidence rate was significantly higher in the second study phase. The improvements in the prevention protocol did not show a decrease of the UP incidence rate. It is essential to know the registration and the protocol were carried out in order to introduce aspects of improvement.
