Abstract

JIMENEZ FERNANDEZ, José Antonio; BULLER VIQUEIRA, Eva  and  LUZURIAGA RIVERA, Celia. Communication as the basis to ensure patient safety. Rev Clin Med Fam [online]. 2016, vol.9, n.1, pp.50-53. ISSN 2386-8201.

The present is a case of a patient with aphasia as a direct consequence of a stroke. Both the nursing staff and the family physician had serious communication problems so a pictogram was designed to improve fluency between patient and health workers. After becoming familiar with it, it greatly facilitated the appropriate and correct two-way communication and health care safety.

Keywords : Stroke; Aphasia; Nonverbal Communication; Communication Barriers.
