Abstract
MARTINEZ PIZARRO, Sandra. Caregiver burnout síndrome. Rev Clin Med Fam [online]. 2020, vol.13, n.1, pp.97-100. Epub Apr 20, 2020. ISSN 2386-8201.
Informal caregivers are those people who perform all the care tasks of dependent persons. We present a clinical case of an informal caregiver presenting insomnia, fatigue, anxiety, stress, and depression. She is diagnosed with caregiver burnout syndrome using the Zarit scale. As part of the treatment, it is essential that health workers teach basic techniques to these patients to care for the dependent person efficiently and without a negative impact on their health. It can be concluded that the gradual ageing of the population will make this syndrome increasingly frequent. Health professionals will have to make use of better strategies based on scientific evidence to address this issue and to obtain positive results in patients.
