Severe hyperkalemia is an electrolyte alteration that may result in life-threatening consequences. In this case report, we review the causes and treatment of severe hyperkalemia in paediatric patients and describe the case of a patient with end-stage renal disease, suffering from this electrolyte alteration after major surgery.
