Abstract

Objetive:
The present study aimed to investigate, describe the perceived musculoskeletal symptoms among music students from Higher Education Institution Barranquilla/ Colombia.
Materials and Methods:
a cross sectional study was conducted with 61 undergraduate music students, that were choosing through simple random simple, the items used to collect musculoskeletal symptoms data were based on the Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire. Statistical analysis was used SPSS 22 version program.
Results:
the majority of the population were male, 38% played wind instruments, 49,2% practiced two hours daily, the 49,2% males and 13.1% woman have musculoskeletal symptoms in neck and lumbar back.
Conclusion:
we found that the musculoskeletal symptoms were affected daily activities from undergraduate music students, for that reason is important understand and develop successful strategies about assessment and intervention for muscle activity and repetitive movement in this population.
