Abstract
REGAL RAMOS, Raúl Jesús. The asymmetry of disability and work incapacity in Spain. Rev Asoc Esp Espec Med Trab [online]. 2021, vol.30, n.1, pp.34-47. Epub May 10, 2021. ISSN 3020-1160.
Objectives:
The objective of this document is to describe and analyze the figures of permanent incapacity for work and disability in Spain. To this end, a review of the public accessible and free statistics found on the websites of the Institute for Migration and Social Services and the National Institute of Social Security have been carried out. In Spain there is a high prevalence of permanently incapacities pensioners that in 2019 have been nearly 2 million contributory pensions. There are also important interprovincial differences in the total number of permanent incapacities for work and disabilities, but also in the different degrees of these. This asymmetry is not attributable to either the job profile or the economic situation of the territory. The centralization of certain aspects of management could help to control spending and avoid these inequalities between provinces and Autonomous Communities.
