Resumen
RAMOS-GOROSTIZA, Pablo. Psychopathology as a stabilizer of psychiatry. Rev. Asoc. Esp. Neuropsiq. [online]. 2023, vol.43, n.144, pp.109-133. Epub 15-Ene-2024. ISSN 2340-2733. https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/s0211-57352023000200006.
The way of constructing psychiatric experience and determining it has been carried out on the basis of naturalistic and psychologistic positions, which are still the dominant ones after almost two hundred years. However, the fact of assimilating psychiatric knowledge to a mere empirical-analytical science has brought nothing but instability, something that is forcefully evident throughout history and the discriminating insufficiency of the current clinical practice. It is necessary to consider the philosophical implications of approaching this open empirical field where subjectivity cannot be segregated and is articulated on a pluralistic and discontinuous ontology. It is postulated that only psychopathology, in its exercise as a procedure both logical and intellectual, allows to relate the different planes of reality in which it develops and to try to close its field in order to provide psychiatry with the necessary stability required for its clinical praxis.
