Resumen

JIMENEZ SERRANO, Rocío  y  GARCIA FERNANDEZ, Francisco Pedro. Management of first and second grade burns in primary care. Gerokomos [online]. 2018, vol.29, n.1, pp.45-51. ISSN 1134-928X.

Objective:

To analyze the evidence of the treatments used in 1st and 2nd degree burns in primary care.

Methodology:

the databases (Cuiden, PubMed, CINHAL, Cochrane, Scopus and LILACS) were used to carry out this systematic review, and a reverse search was also performed through the results obtained. The main keywords used were, burns AND treatment AND primary care. Revisions and original studies on scarring, side effects and cost were included. Articles in children and non-cutaneous burns were excluded.

Results:

23 items have been included, resulting in the different treatments used for burns, 20 of the articles provide data on average healing time with each treatment, 10 articles provide information on the secondary effects that treatments can have and finally 2 are the articles that speak the cost benefit of them. The main product used, the silver sulfadiazine, has secondary effects so its use should not systematize them.

Conclusion:

The cure in a humid environment through the use of dressings that control the exudate, this seems to be the most beneficial and extended treatment since its creation. There is controversy in using some natural treatments and the use of silver sulfadiazine has great power against bacteria but causes multiple side effects.
