Diabetes mellitus is a major problem for the world population that has been increasing over the last decades. The objective is describing the evolution of a diabetic foot ulcer with tendon exposure under treatment with negative pressure therapy. A clinical case related to a traumatic wound in a patient with diabetes mellitus is described using nursing methodology. Wound treatment was initiated following the evidence-based wound clinical guidelines with negative pressure therapy recommendations and the objectives and interventions of the multidisciplinary team were established, achieving complete closure of the wound by second intention.
