The patient with diabetes needs education in self-management of medication and hygienic-dietary habits as a fundamental tool for glycemic control. To achieve this goal, it is neccesary to know the punctual state of the blood glucose so it is recommended the self-monitoring of blood glucose levels, in order to obtain detailed information on the blood glucose levels at different times. Recently, new blood glucose meters emerged, which provide informative messages with color range indicators. The objective of this study was to assess the use of these glucometers together with a nurse intervention in outpatients with Type 2 Diabetes.
