Resumen

SILVA-SANCHEZ, Camilo Andrés  y  CHEPO-CHEPO, Macarena. Structural stigma in sexual minorities: concept analysis using Walker and Avant's methodology. Ene. [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.3, 1422.  Epub 13-Mar-2023. ISSN 1988-348X.

Introduction:

The presence of diverse conceptualizations of stigma impedes the establishment of relationships between this concept and health outcomes. Concept analysis is a useful nursing strategy to facilitate understanding terms and their attributes.

Objective:

To analyze the concept of structural stigma in sexual minorities.

Methodology:

The eight-step methodology proposed by Walker & Avant was used.

Results:

Definitions of stigma, related concepts (interpersonal stigma and structural racism), attributes, cases, consequences of the concept and empirical references are reviewed.

Conclusions:

The conceptualization of stigma allows identifying opportunities to reduce health inequities among sexual minorities.

Palabras clave : Stigma; structural stigma; sexual and gender minorities; concept analysis.
