Resumen

CALERO, Alejandra Daniela  y  MOLINA, María Fernanda. Beyond culture: validation of a multidimensional model of self-concept among Argentine adolescents. Escritos de Psicología [online]. 2016, vol.9, n.1, pp.33-41. ISSN 1989-3809.  https://dx.doi.org/10.5231/psy.writ.2016.1201.

It has been shown that self-concept and self-esteem are key constructs to explain adolescent development. One of the most well-known models of this stage of development comprises eight specific self-concept domains and another domain, representing general self-esteem, with a higher level of abstraction. This theoretical model is operationalized by the Self-Perception Profile for Adolescents (SPPA). The aim of this study was to statistically test the theoretical structure of the SPPA in an adolescent population of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina (CABA/AR). The SPPA was administered to 467 adolescents attending a middle school in CABA/AR. A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to contrast the proposed theoretical structure; two alternative models of the self-concept domain and one model of the self-esteem domain were tested. The results confirmed the proposed theoretical structure of the SPPA in adolescent population attending the CABA/AR.

Palabras clave : Self-concept; Self-Esteem; Adolescents.
