Introduction

The development and personal growth of medical students is considered as a fundamental part of the professional development of medical future, however studies cover only some of the aspects that compose and are generally difficult to apply and interpret.

Aim

Achieve an instrument to evaluate the competition in medical students throughout the career of a useful and practical for feedback from them.

Subjects and methods

Eleven were constructed and validated integrated scales in a Likert instrument to assess the main aspects that influence growth and personal development. They were applied to 1,024 freshmen of Medicine of a public university in Mexico. Cronbach's alpha factor analysis with Varimax of each rotation was performed and scales.

Results

92.6% of surveys were valid, the population was 600 women (63.3%) and 348 men (36.7%) with a median age of 19 years. The Cronbach's alpha values ranged from 0.573-0.794 and variances between 39.94% and 65.53%.

Conclusions

The self-applied instrument shows an adequate level of reliability. The internal consistency and construct validity, shows its strength and usefulness to assess development and personal growth of the students and can be applied throughout their training. Have a valid and accessible to assess attitudes and personal development tool will be useful for both students and for faculty itself.
