PASTOR-MORENO, Guadalupe; RUIZ-PEREZ, Isabel e RICCI-CABELLO, Ignacio. History of violence and violence of intimate partner in pregnant women. Results in health. Index Enferm [online]. 2018, vol.27, n.4, pp.191-195. Epub 20-Jan-2020. ISSN 1699-5988.
Objective:
to examine the frequency of History of Violence (HV) in pregnant wo-men, to study the sociodemographic characteristics associated and to identify health outcomes.
Methods:
cross-sectional study in Andalusia (Spain), with 754 women pregnancy using a self-administered questionnaire, which includes variables concerning, sociodemographic factors, health status and identification of violence. The prevalence of HV and multivariable logistic regression models were calculated.
Results:
HV prevalence was 9%, intimate partner violence frequency was 4,8% and 1,9% reported intimate partner violence during their current pregnancy. HV was significantly associated with poor self-reported health status (ORa 2,54; IC95%: 1,46-4,43), psychic morbidity (ORa 2,82; IC95%:1,56-5,07) and use of medication in pregnancy (ORa 2,36 IC95%: 1,14-4,87)
Conclusion:
HV has an impact on the health outcomes of pregnant women. The high rate of healthcare coverage during pregnancy offers primary care providers an ideal opportunity to implement available protocol recommendations.
