LOPEZ FRANCO, M.ª Dolores  e  PANCORBO HIDALGO, Pedro L.. A questionnaire of Pressure Ulcers Prevention Knowledge CPUPP-37: elaboration and content validation. Gerokomos [online]. 2017, vol.28, n.1, pp.30-37. ISSN 1134-928X.

Aim:

To design and validate the content of a questionnaire on nurses’ knowledge on pressure ulcer (PU) prevention in adults based on recommendations of clinical practice guidelines (CPG).

Methodology:

Cross-sectional descriptive study to validate the content of a questionnaire. The study had 3 phases: selection of PU prevention documents; extraction of recommendations and writing up the items; content validation through a panel of 12 PU experts. Agreement was estimated using the Aiken V index.

Results:

6 GPC and 1 technical document were located after searching in a number of data sources (N=15). 414 recommendations for PU prevention in adults were found, whose 84 were extracted after its synthesis and grouping. From these, 44 recommendations were selected by an agreement >80% of the experts. Based on these recommendations, a first version with 52 items questionnaire was drafted, and after 2 rounds with the expert panel, just 37 items remained.

Conclusions:

The CPUPP-37 questionnaire is aimed to explore nurses’ knowledge on PU prevention based on current recommendations. It has good figures for content validation, so it could be used in further studies in order to test its reliability and validity.
