LUQUE OLIVEROS, M.; BULLON, M. e PENA, A.. Ventriculoperitoneal shunt system disfunction: emergency room nurses' involvement. Enferm. glob. [online]. 2009, n.15. ISSN 1695-6141.
The function of the nursing staff in the Intensive Care and Emergency Units is vital. It is a priority for the adjustment and speed of the settlement of the patients suffering from different pathologies. Nevertheless, it is unknown by the rest of the health care workers as well as by the users that need hospital care. In our case, a treatment delay for hydrocephalus can lead to a cerebral pin and therefore the patient's death. For this reason, at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital we focus our effort through daily preparation in clinical conferences and personal effort. A high level of education is required to assist in a hospital unit as the very name describes: Intensive Care and Emergency Services.
