Self-Help and Counsel are different activities though can overlap each other in some aspects. The meaning of self help frecuently promotes an individualist conception of a subject which is dissociated from his context, and a perspective of the psychological functioning in terms of parameters and entities. This conception of the person at the same time promotes and is promoted by the self-help culture and counsel procedures. This culture is one of the frames that shape the subjects and psychological problems that became object of study and work for psychology and psychotherapy. Genesis and process are proposed as worth considering alternative concepts for psychology and psychotherapy, both at an individual and at a colective level.
