FERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ, María; GUERRA MORA, Patricia  e  GARCIA-VEGA, Elena. The 7th version of Care Standars of WPATH: a different approach that goes beyond sexual dimorphism and gender. Rev. Asoc. Esp. Neuropsiq. [online]. 2014, vol.34, n.122, pp.317-335. ISSN 2340-2733.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S0211-57352014000200006.

The aim of this presentation is to analyse and reflect on the changes brought in the Care Standards of the 7th version of WPATH (World Professional for Transgender Health). It attempts to depathologize replacing the Diagnostic "Gender Identity Disorders" by "Gender Dysphoria" and extends the target population and treatment options. It is not a prerequisite to carry out the real life experience and/or psychotherapy for the hormonal treatment, the obligation to carry out the hormonal treatment for breast surgery is removed and the psychiatric comorbidity does not neccesarily exclude the access to the hormonal and surgical therapy. One of the most controversial sections is the one dedicated to children and teenager treatment. The new standards involve an overcoming of the traditional dycotomic model, setting that gender, felt and expressed, does not need to be inextricably linked to biological sex.

Palavras-chave : Standard of Care; gender dysphoria; gender identity disorder; transexualism.
