ALCAZAR-GABAS, M.; FIDALGO-PAMPLONA, M.P.  e  LAPLANA-MIGUEL, O.. Anxiety perceived by burned hospitalized patients in a Burn Unit. Cir. plást. iberolatinoam. [online]. 2014, vol.40, n.2, pp.159-169. ISSN 1989-2055.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S0376-78922014000200005.

This paper intends to describe the state of anxiety experimented by burned patients in a Burn Unite. A key factor in burned patients care comes from a good psychological attention. The reality shows that the nursing professional observes the emotional symptoms during the first days of admission, and tries to answer the demand for care. Through measuring the perceived level of anxiety in patients admitted to the Burn Unit of choice for our study during the first half of 2009, we intend to identify those who are at risk for higher levels of anxiety during hospitalization, in order to establish a plan of care tailored to the emotional needings of each one. The results allow us to conclude that burnt patients admitted to the Burn Unit have high levels of anxiety; those levels are higher among women and inpatients with more extensive lesions. We also determined that patients admitted for burns in the Burn Unit of our study were mostly male, of Spanish nationality, living in an urban environment, mean age 50 years, and the flame burns and household accidents were the most common cause.
