ALONSO DIAZ, Juan Antonio. Results of the application of noise protocol by workers exposed to an average daily sound levels equal or exceeding 85 decibels (A). Med. segur. trab. [online]. 2014, vol.60, n.234, pp.9-23. ISSN 1989-7790.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/S0465-546X2014000100003.

Objectives: The study aims at determining the prevalence, in workers exposed to LAeq, d > 85 dB(A), of audiometric hearing damage suspicious noise and to analyze its relationship with variables of age, time of exposure, type of protection used and prolonged use. Method: Cross-sectional study of the results of the audiometric and its relation to the variables of age, time of exposure, type of protection used and frequency of use obtained by applying a standardized questionnaire included in the noise applied protocol for occupational medical examinations 207 specific newspapers two workshops male workers exposed to daily continuous noise level equivalent or higher than 85 dB(A). Results: In one third of the workers exposed to audiometry were obtained compatible with hearing damage by noise, of which more than half had involvement of conversational frequencies, with the under-use of personal protective equipment due to low risk perception of workers the main factor for its development, followed by the time of exposure and age. Conclusions: Occupational health services should implement training initiatives to sensitize workers about the risks of exposure to noise and the need to properly use hearing protectors.
