Abstract
HARRIS RICARDO, Jonathan; LOPEZ ALVAREZ, Ary and VEGA GUTIERREZ, Maryury. Hereditary gingival fibromatosis: case report in a child. Rev Esp Cirug Oral y Maxilofac [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.1, pp.38-41. ISSN 2173-9161. https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.maxilo.2012.04.004.
Hereditary gingival fibromatosis is a rare disorder. Its genetic transmission mode indicates that it is an autosomal dominant trait. It is characterized by generalized or localized increases in the volume of the gum and fibre type. It manifests by the onset of eruption of the permanent teeth, or with the eruption of primary teeth, and may occur as an isolated feature or as part of a syndrome. We report the clinical case of a female pediatric patient who visited the Dental Clinic of the Rafael Núñez University Corporation due to a general increase in the volume of the gum, with a family history of the same condition in the mother and brother, with no relationships with syndromes. The clinical features, family history and treatment, are described.
