Resumen

Thirty one years old first-time mother, without clinical records of interest, who started with per-spiration and nervousness events the first month after delivery. During physical examination a vague increase of the thyroid gland was felt. Laboratory tests showed increased levels of T4 and TSH consistent with hyperthyroidism and positives antithyroid antibodies titers. The patient was diagnosed of postpartum thyroiditis.  This condition is the most common thyroid disfunction to occur during this period. It's an autoimmune disease that usually consists of a first phase of hyperthyroidism, whose treatment is frecuently unnecessary, followed by a second one of hypothyroidism that may become permanent requiring be treated with thyroid hormone.
