When performing liver biopsy in patients with negative clinical markers (history, physical examination and non invasive complementary tests) and cronic elevations of liver function tests we find, as the most commong cause, esteatosis and steatohepatitis (82.7% of the patients); followed by the normal biopsy (9.8% of the patients); cirrosis (4.9% of the cases) and, finally, fibrosis (2.4% of the cases). There is no evidence for of the sistematic performance of a biopsy in these type of patients.
