This article shows the situation of the nursing postgrade in Chile in strictus sensus (magíster and doctorate), including, a general panoramic of the graduate degrees in the country. A revision of the main facts that have motivated the creation of the graduate degrees in infirmary in the country and the difficulties that are presented in the different levels in the creation and development of these programs is made. This programs resembles the historical evolution of the other programs of graduate degree of nursing in Latin America.
