Abstract

CALVO-GIL, María Julia  and  OBANDO-CALDERON, Nélida Isabel. Life experience of young people with familiar violence who live in protected Homes. Index Enferm [online]. 2008, vol.17, n.3, pp.169-172. ISSN 1699-5988.

This study dealing with the experiences of ill treatment in young people is originated when we identified and established contact with victims of violence. Another reason is that even though this phenomenon has been the topic of different researches and our society has to live with it day after day, the compromise that each individual acquires with this problematic situation is still insufficient and scarce. The aim of this research was to understand ill treated young people; their experiences of life, how they perceive the causes that produce a situation like this one and how they face it. As professionals of Nursery we expect to enlarge the vision and the knowledge of ill treatment so that a clear identification of the phenomenon under study can be detected when giving integral assistance. The qualitative methodology of the phenomenological approach was used in this work, which allowed us to get knowledge about the phenomenon of the study. This was reached through the analysis of the speech obtained in a free way from young people pertaining to the SENAME Home. Confidentiality in the management of the information given and their identity were insured to them. The results obtained gave origin to the following topics: Describing feelings of slovenliness; Denying the assumption of an ill treatment situation; Perceiving the familiar support; Delaying their necessities; Expressing rebelliousness.

Keywords : adolescent; domestic violence; phenomenology; sheltered homes.
