RANGEL FLORES, Yesica Yolanda et al. Contributions of Gender in the investigation of Primary Caregivers of Dependent people. Index Enferm [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.3, pp.157-161. ISSN 1699-5988.

Justification: The gender perspective is incorporated in research to elucidate the cultural conditions that contribute to the responsibility for the care. Objective: To develop a systematic and critical review of the studies that incorporate the gender perspective in the last 5 years. Methodology: 8 international databases and 27 magazines from 11 countries were reviewed. Of the 35 articles selected, 42.8% derived from the qualitative paradigm, 22.8% quantitative, 25.7% of the combination of these, 8.5% corresponds to review articles. Results: There is evidence on the experiences of women as caregivers and overload living regarding care, prevailing absence of knowledge about the limitations of men to participate in care. Conclusion: Although the research is stated with a gender perspective, the analysis focused on the experience of women, a situation that skews the overall understanding of the phenomenon.
