Abstract

ABADES PORCEL, Mercedes. Nursing care adopted for use in Homes for the Elderly based on Watson model. Gerokomos [online]. 2007, vol.18, n.4, pp.18-22. ISSN 1134-928X.

The aim of this study is to describe and analyse the nursing care adopted for use in Homes for the Elderly, which is based on the "carative factors" as described in the Theory of Jean Watson. In order to do this, a phenomenological perspective, interpretative paradigm will be carried out. As a method for generating information, discourse analysis of in-depth interviews carried out on the nurses concerning the concept of caring in homes for the elderly will be used. Once the study has been finalised it could be extremely useful for those healthcare professionals working with the elderly, given that it will highlight problems arising when adopting Watson’s model when caring for the elderly.

Keywords : Caring nursing; geriatric; Watson´s theory; relationship nursing-older people.
