Abstract

SARABIA COBO, Carmen María. Successful aging and quality of life, its role in the theories of the aging. Gerokomos [online]. 2009, vol.20, n.4, pp.172-174. ISSN 1134-928X.

Aging itself is a process whose quality is directly related to how the person meets their needs throughout their life cycle. Meeting the needs of the human species, is what determines the "quality of life" and this is in turn the basis of specific social welfare. For years within the current research into theories of aging are shaping new theoretical concepts that provide a better understanding of the process of aging. One of these concepts is that of subjective well-being, understood as the degree of satisfaction experienced by people when they make an overall assessment or valuation over their lives.

Keywords : Aging; quality of life; personal well-being.
