Abstract

Objective: Analyzing the practice of healing of skin ulcers performed by nursing staff in Primary Health Care in a city in Minas Gerais/Brazil. Methods: This is an observational, epidemiological and cross-sectional study, conducted with a sample of 120 nurses; using a structured questionnaire. Data were collected from January to August 2013. Results: Among the respondents, 47.1% reported being the nurse and the doctor that define what to use in ulcers, 17.7% consider that the nursing technician or assistant may also define such conduct, 94% said there is no continuing education activities in Primary Health Care. Based on the questionnaire answers; 73.2% did not realize the healing of skin ulcers. Conclusions: This study reassures the importance of permanent education actions, and these directly influence nursing practice in care for skin ulcers.
