Abstract
GARAMENDI, P.M. and LANDA, M.I.. Legal estimation of age around 18 years: Review of the literature. Cuad. med. forense [online]. 2003, n.31, pp.13-24. ISSN 1988-611X.
We present a review of the main studies published to date in the medical literature on the forensic estimation of age in supposed minors without papers. In recent years, approximate age estimations in supposed minors without papers are increasingly ordered by immigration authorities in Spain and most European Council member countries. The main aim of this review was to introduce forensic physicians to the state of the art on forensic estimation of the age of living subjects so that physicians can properly analyze the medical tests habitually used.
