Abstract

The relationship between thumb sucking and malocclusion is reviewed,as well as the treatment approaches for the elimination of the suction habit and its effects. Two clinical cases, one in primary dentition and another one in mixed dentition, with this habit are presented, explaining their different treatments, performed according to the occlusal, functional and psychological implications in each patient.
