BERLANGA, Eugenio et al. Experience in the evaluation of speciality training tutors. Educ. méd. [online]. 2004, vol.7, n.2, pp.65-69. ISSN 1575-1813.
Introduction: We describe our experience in the evaluation of tutors associated to an incentivation scheme of the specific tutorial action in the teaching programme of medical and pharmacist specialists (MIR/FIR). Material and methods: We have designed two questionnaires, one for the evaluation by the director of the teaching programme of each medical speciality and another for the evaluation by the hospital teaching committee. We applied both questionnaires to 38 tutors yearly in 2000, 2001 and 2002. For statistical analysis we used the tests of Wilcoxon and Spearman with the Bonferrroni’s correction. Results: The tutors achieved 92.6% of their objectives in 2000, 89.1% in 2001 and 89.9% in 2002. The hospital teaching committee questionnaire didn’t show inter-year statistical differences while the evaluations by the director of the teaching programme showed differences between 2000 and 2002 (P=0,01). No correlations were observed between the teaching committee evaluations and those of the directors of the teaching programme. Discussion: The evaluation of the formative process of the MIR/FIR system, needs to be improved. The evaluation and recognition of the tutorial task could be an important tool. Our results show that, using this evaluation method, tutors develop their task correctly. The tool of evaluation shows enough stability and ability to discriminate.
