Abstract

PEREZ, Jorge  and  GRAELL, Sara. Lecture Attendance and Academic Achievement among Medical Students: The experience of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Educ. méd. [online]. 2004, vol.7, n.2, pp.85-89. ISSN 1575-1813.

To determine whether or not there is a relation between lecture attendance and academic performance, we carried out two studies at the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In the first, based on students studying medical pathology, no relation was found between attendance and success; however attendance was related to good marks. In the second study, based on students of all subjects in the curriculum, we found a positive correlation between attendance and examination results in most of the subjects, especially in the first year and in the subjects of medical and surgical pathology.

Keywords : Lecture attendance; Academic Achievement; Medical students.
