ESTEVAN, I.; ALVAREZ, O.  e  CASTILLO, I.. Perceived self-efficacy and technical-tactical performance in university taekwondo athletes. CPD [online]. 2016, vol.16, n.2, pp.51-64. ISSN 1989-5879.

This research investigates the performance and self-perception by observational and self-efficacy analysis according to the gender and success in a taekwondo. Two studies were developed: Study 1 aimed to (i) test the psychometric properties of the perceived self-efficacy in taekwondo actions questionnaire (CAPAT) and (ii) the taekwondo athletes' self-efficacy according to the gender and success in combat. Study 2 aimed to analyse athletes' technical-tactical behavior according to the gender and success in combat. Participants were university taekwondo athletes (study 1, N = 86; study 2, N = 85) aged 18-33 years (M = 22.03; SD = 3.12). Study 1: confirmatory factor analyses provided evidence regarding the factorial structure of the instrument. Results revealed two main factors model: technical and tactical. Comparative analysis showed that winners scored higher in technical and tactical self-efficacy than non-winners (p < .05). Study 2: observational analysis showed that winners performed a higher amount of anticipatory and posterior counterattacks, circular kicks and kicks to the head than non-winners (p < .05). No differences according to the gender were found. The implications of these findings in terms of practical orientations are discussed.
