Abstract

FERNANDEZ CRUZ, Manuel; GIJON PUERTA, José  and  LIZARTE SIMON, Emilio Jesús. Consumption of psychoactive substances in student teachers and their beliefs about preventive education. Acción psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.13, n.1, pp.67-78. ISSN 2255-1271.  https://dx.doi.org/10.5944/ap.13.1.17419.

Conducting educational programs to prevent drug use has proven effective in controlling addiction habits among young people. The success of prevention programs rests largely on the training of teachers and their own beliefs about drug use. Another factor that may be related to the success of the programs is teacher's own experience in the use of psychoactive substances. In this article we explore the relationship between tobacco, alcohol and illegal drugs consumption habits of future teachers (education students at the University of Granada) and the false beliefs about drug prevention at schools they have.

Keywords : preservice teacher education; health education; dependency; drugs.
