Plaque control is the main method for preventing periodontal disease. Currently is accepted the chemical plaque control as a complementary way to an inefficient mechanical control. Drugs most used are the oral antiseptics being widly recognized clorhexidine as the most efficacy agent. However there are many different formulations of these, therefore can e usefuI a revision with the aim of clarify the more or less efficacy of these and their different indications.
