In 1916 Leonard Widman described a surgical technique with the aim of eradicate the “pyhorrea alveolaris”, it was published by Everett´s group 55 years later, with some modifications proposed by the authors, then in 1977 Ramfjord published the modified Widman flap technique. This surgical technique has been compared by different authors in longitudinal studies with the aim of analyze changes in the attachment level and in the probing depth either in a short and a long term.
