Abstract

FERNANDEZ GUTIERREZ, Domingo Ángel. Por qué su imagen profesional puede afectar seriamente a la salud de las personas que atiende (y a la suya propia). Ene. [online]. 2017, vol.11, n.2. ISSN 1988-348X.

The image of a profession is built from the perspective of the knowledge that society and other disciplines have of it, according to the signs of identity that its professionals transmit. The publics ‘notion of nurse profession is full of gender roles, stereotypes, heterogeneity and in general, a profound ignorance. What in a first analysis might seem an internal; nurses ‘problem, becomes especially important when evidence appears linking this professional image with the safety of the patients and with an increase in the risk for the health of the people that we take care of.

Keywords : Nurses; Public health; Patient safety; Professional Autonomy; Practice Management; Health Risk; Communication; Nursing care.
