Introduction:

Organ transplantation is an alternative of treatment to acute and chronic diseases, allowing to improve survival and quality of life. At national level the transplant tendency positions kidney as the most frequent organ, followed by the liver, heart, lung and pancreas, this is relevant, because the waiting list emphasizes people waiting for a kidney transplant.

A motivated and capable procurement team is fundamental, where nurses stand out allowing the development of two pillars, clinical care oriented to postsurgical stage, and education to achieve role adaptation and self-care.

Objective:

The purpose of this study is to apply a nursing process in an intensive care unit, based in Callista Roy's Adaptation Theory.

Methods:

For the analysis and approach of the assessment and priorization of the nursing diagnosis it was used Callista Roy's Adaptation Theory. The diagnosis will be raised with the NANDA format, the indicators with the NANDA format, and the interventions in NOC format.

Conclusions:

A transplanted person requires the support of a multi-disciplinary team, where nurses improve the commitment of the patient with it's selfcare, to achieve a better treatment adherence avoiding organ rejection. Education promotes self-care effectively, reducing morbidity, mortality, sanitary costs and resources.
