INFANTE, Sanndy et al. Adaptation and implementation of an undergraduate training course in Psychiatry in the School of Medicine of the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Santiago de Chile. FEM (Ed. impresa) [online]. 2021, vol.24, n.3, pp.149-155.  Epub 19-Jul-2021. ISSN 2014-9840.  https://dx.doi.org/10.33588/fem.243.1130.

Introduction.

Undergraduate training in Psychiatry in the PUC School of Medicine represents around 10% of the curriculum. However, COVID-19 has implied the suspension of educational activities in more than 100 countries, including Chile, because the mobility of people implies a risk at a general level, especially in the framework of clinical training. This scenario has implied that schools of medicine have had to transform their teaching-learning strategies.

Aims.

The objective of this work is to present the results of the adaptation to an online format of the Clinical Neurosciences for Medicine course, corresponding to the subjects of Adult Psychiatry and Child-Adolescent Psychiatry and its implementation.

Materials and methods.

The methodology developed aspects of clinical classroom didactics, but through online educational platforms that sought to generate the skills required by the specialty.

Results and conclusions.

The results obtained show a high rate of adherence to sessions, both synchronous and asynchronous. Likewise, the observation of simulated patients, the analysis of cases in role-play, the adaptation of questionnaires and observational guidelines, among others, reflect the favorable development of this subject. Furthermore, in consideration of the practical tradition that the course of Psychiatry in medical training has before the clinical internship, the reported evidence shows the effectiveness of implementing a course in this modality.
