Editorial note

We would like to thank all subscribers of The European Journal of Psychiatry, both indivi duals and institutions, readers and specially, the authors for their interest in this journal. Thanks to their continued support, we have been able to improve the Eur J Psychiat, as shown by the 48,7% increase in the impact factor in the last year.

As a result of our interest in improving the journal, and the adaptation to the new times, we are now ready to start a new venture. We are glad to inform that The European Journal of Psychiatry and Elsevier have reached an agreement to publish the journal starting in 2017.

The main changes of this joint venture are to publish the Eur J Psychiat online, because today is the best way to arrive to everyone and disseminate widely advances in research. In this way, the Journal homepage is available at http://www.journals.elsevier.com/the-european-journal-of-psychiatry, and the Journal contents are at http://www.elsevier.es/ejpsy and http://www.sciencedirect.com/.

Science Direct is home to almost one-quarter of the world's peer-reviewed full-text scientific, technical and medical content. Over 15 million researchers, health care professionals, teachers, students and information professionals around the globe rely on ScienceDirect as a trusted source of nearly 2,200 journals and close to 26,000 book titles. The Eur J Psychiat will take part of the benefit to be available in the most relevant Institutions around the world that allows to researchers immediate access to relevant content when they need it; whether they are within the institution, working remotely, or on the go.

As a consequence of the expansion of the online version, the journal will publish as "Articles in Press" all articles accepted, peer reviewed articles that are not yet assigned to volumes/issues, but are citable using DOI, improving their visibility and increasing their citation probabilities.

Other important change to the Eur J Psychiat is that the journal will use the EVISE, the new Elsevier manuscripts editorial management. EVISE is Elsevier's new web-based system to support the editorial process for journals which replaces the Elsevier Editorial System (EES). The submission process for authors is simplified to four steps: enter manuscript information; upload files; provide additional information; and review & submit. Reviewers will be invited by the Editors to perform their reports in the EVISE. The EVISE site for the Eur J Psychiat will be ready on 28th November 2016 at http://www.evise.com/evise/jrnl/EJPSY.

The Eur J Psychiat as the other journals published by Elsevier will be a member and uphold core policies of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). In order to help the valuable task of reviewers, the Elsevier profile will allow the access to other Elsevier products (e.g. Scopus, ScienceDirect, Mendeley) with a single username and password.
