Domestic violence represents an important social problem that needs investigation to prevent it and minimize its consequences. Our investigation focuses on determining the adequacy of questionnaires used to evaluate depression or anxiety produced in domestic violence victims at the time of initial detection of the situation. A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out with 93 women victims of domestic violence selected randomly, without a defined profile, and were evaluated using Beck and Zung SAS Self-Rating Anxiety/Depression Scale prior to the judicial process in the Courts of Gender Violence of Madrid. Zung SAS and Beck scales are correlated with each other (Pearson correlation coefficient 0.6248) and can be used to determine the presence of depression. Our study shows that women who have suffered gender violence have a degree of depression according to the tests we have studied.
