Introduction:

Clinical trials (CT) are the methodology, which evaluate efficacy and safety of medical interventions in humans and constitute an obliged requirement to sanitary authorization of medical or diagnostic products. Participation of a multidisciplinary equipment is mandatory. One member of such team is the graduated on Pharmaceutical Sciences going beyond the framework of the Pharmacy unit to join the research team. The objective of the paper was to detail the roles such professional can play in clinical trials.

Materials and methods:

During year 2019, authors of this paper, interviewed the 43 graduates pharmaceutics sciences working in the Clinical Trials’ National Coordinating Centre and interviewed the 148 pharmaceutics responsible for CT in all over de country, all of them graduates in pharmaceutics sciences. The interview was personal. The authors of this paper elaborated and summarized, in categories containing similar information. The list of all the functions the interviewed personnel referred they look after in relation to CT.

Results:

The graduate in pharmaceutical sciences is involved in more than one of the responsibilities related to CT.

Conclusions:

The graduate in pharmaceutical sciences is skilled enough to accomplish to execute different roles and functions in CT tasks.
