The social image of nursing in different countries of the world has been affected by stereotypes and the perception that society has about the role of the nursing professional, who provide invisible care. Objective: To determine the relationship between invisible care and the social image of the community nurse in three communities in Peru (Chiclayo, Cuzco and Puno). Materials and methods: Cross-sectional correlational design study. With a sample of 514 participants selected by probability sampling (Atusparia - Chiclayo, 171; Coporaque - Cusco 174; and Pueblo Libre - Puno 169 settlers). The instruments were the Huércanos invisible care test (adapted) and the Errasti social image test (adapted). Data collection was carried out with the COVID-19 protocols in the three communities, complying with ethical standards. Results: Regarding invisible care, a significant association was found with the professional's social image. 57.8% of the residents who perceived invisible care as high also rated the nursing professional's social image as high, and 76.9% who perceived regular invisible care rated their social image as low. Conclusions: Invisible care is significantly related to the social image of the nurse. Thus, if the nursing professional provides comprehensive and humane care, the perception of their social image may be greater and thus will make nursing care visible.
