ESPINOZA VILLAVICENCIO, J.L.; GUEVARA FRANCO, J.A. and PALACIOS ESPINOSA, A.. Morphometric and faneroptic characterization of mexican criollo chinampo cattle. Arch. zootec. [online]. 2009, vol.58, n.222, pp.277-279. ISSN 1885-4494.
With the purpose of morphometric and phaneroptic characterization of the criollo Chinampo cattle of Mexico, a sample composed of 1150 cows and 300 bulls was studied. The cows were classified by age in groups of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and >6 years. The bulls were classified in groups of 1, 2, 3, and =4 years. The measured variables were: body weight, scapula-ischium length, hip length, wither height, heart girth, and horn length and perimeter. A descriptive statistical analysis was conducted on these variables. The body measurements were within the ranges reported for other populations of criollo cattle in Mexico.
