Abstract

A study is presented of the onset and course of the main symptoms of transsexuality in 200 patients from the Gender Identity Disorder Unit of Carlos Haya hospital, Malaga, Spain. Detailed study of the psycho-pathological, social and family variables associated with the disorder is necessary. Furthermore, understanding differences between maleto-female and female-to-male patients during the course of sex change are fundamental for the correct diagnosis and psychotherapy of transsexuality.
